Director, Bishops Scientific UK Limited trading as LabFriend UK

Michael Anderson is Director of Bishops Scientific UK Limited, trading as LabFriend UK. He brings extensive senior leadership experience across laboratory consumables, scientific instrumentation, ecommerce, technical services and B2B scientific distribution.

Michael has spent much of his career helping laboratory-focused businesses improve how they serve customers. His experience combines commercial management, operational discipline, digital systems, quality management, supplier relationships and people leadership. This combination is directly relevant to LabFriend UK’s mission: making laboratory purchasing simpler, quicker and more cost-effective for UK laboratories.

Before establishing Bishops Scientific UK Limited as the UK LabFriend franchisee, Michael held senior roles with Carl Stuart Ltd and Carl Stuart UK Ltd, including Managing Director, General Manager, Operations Director, IT Manager and Quality Manager. During this time, he worked across laboratory and technical businesses including Lab Unlimited and Pure Process , covering laboratory instrumentation, consumables, laboratory filtration, technical services, industrial scale filtration and process separation technologies.

A central part of Michael’s career has been leading and developing people. As Managing Director and General Manager, he was responsible for building teams, aligning people around business priorities, improving performance, supporting professional development and creating a culture where customer service, accountability and continuous improvement mattered. His leadership approach is practical, collaborative and grounded in trust, clear communication and leading by example.

Michael’s people-led approach is important to the way LabFriend UK serves customers. Laboratory supply is not only about product range, pricing and ecommerce infrastructure; it also depends on responsive support, accurate communication and reliable follow-through. Michael’s background in leading customer support, logistics, IT, marketing, procurement and sales operations gives him a practical understanding of how well-managed internal teams translate into better customer experiences.

Michael has also led significant business transformation projects, including business planning, profitability improvement, operational restructuring, CRM implementation, ecommerce development, analytics reporting and post-Brexit operational change. He has practical experience using systems and data to improve customer service, order visibility, repeat-business management and commercial decision-making.

Earlier in his career, Michael worked directly in quality and compliance-led environments, including ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 17025 accreditation activity. This gives him a practical appreciation of the documentation, reliability and process discipline expected by laboratory customers.

At LabFriend UK, Michael’s role is focused on building a reliable, ecommerce-led laboratory supply business for UK laboratories. His priorities include competitive pricing, responsive customer support, efficient account management, repeat consumables supply, supplier development and creating a service culture that helps laboratories buy with confidence.
